Resources
Here you can find graphic/web design resources that I find very useful. Some things that can be found here are great tutorial sites, stock photo sites, free fonts, great design blogs and much more. If you have any resources you think could help make this better feel free to email me.
Tutorial Sites
- Kirupa
- Probably my most used tutorial site. Great easy to read tutorials on a various array of subjects mainly Flash, PHP, and Photoshop. Great for learning snippets of actionscript or php.
- PSD Tuts
- Great site for Photoshop tutorials. Tutorials range from easy to expert and are all very easy to follow.
- Phong
- An interesting site with Flash and Photoshop tutorials as well as artist galleries. Very visually pleasing, but a little hard to navigate; great tutorials though
Web Inspiration
- Design Meltdown
- A great site for browsing the best designs on the web. The navigation is very helpful if looking for a particular color, style, or type of site.
- The Daily Slurp
- This is a good site to browse daily for great site designs. I usually browse it while I have my morning coffee.
- CSS Flash
- Good site for some of the best designed sites on the web.
- Designer Source
- Yet another great showcase of some great designs. Good navigation to browse certain types/styles of sites.
There are so many new web design showcase sites popping up that I cannot put them all up here. If you want more there are links to other showcase sites on the sites listed.
Free Stuff
- Urban Fonts
- An indespensible site for free fonts. All the fonts are top quality and free*. Thousands of fonts to choose from as well. *Most are freeware, but some have licensing, be sure you know what you are doing with the fonts and don't be irresponsible.
- Stock Xchng
- A great resource for free* stock images. Thousands of great quality images, much like a pay stock image website, but FREE. *Only for certain uses, but if you read the legal information, it's a pretty open license.
Great Design Blogs
- Boagword
- This is a great blog/podcast from the brilliant web designer Paul Boag. A must for anyone involved in websites.
- Web Designer Wall
- This is probably one of the most useful sites, in my opinion, to a web designer. It has great articles about design as well as tutorials on Photoshop, CSS, etc. I recommend this to anyone serious about web design. Plus the design of the site is gorgeous.
